i don’t think i ever just “visit” places. i experience them. i’ve always been drawn to spaces that feel intentional, spaces that don’t scream, but whisper. places that aren’t catered towards big crowds, but stay true to their own vision, values, and creativity.
i often visit events and pop-ups. not just to be there, but to feel the energy of a space. i notice how people move, what they’re wearing, how music shifts the atmosphere. what feels curated. what feels effortless. the conversations i have in these spaces, often with people i’ve just met, are what inspire me and keep me moving.
that’s also how i met Evy. through conversations about emerging designers and why originality still matters.
Dream Unit feels like a place where discovery is intentional. where you don’t just buy something, you find something. emerging designers get to show their pieces in a space where they don’t feel out of place. the store is so carefully curated that moving through it feels more like walking through an exhibition than shopping. or maybe that says more about how we’ve grown used to experiencing stores.
i spend a lot of time moving through the city, sometimes with a plan, often without one. i’m comfortable being alone in a crowd. observing. listening. collecting small details that most people rush past.
perhaps that’s also why i’m drawn to moments that allow me to fully immerse. sitting alone in a dark cinema, letting a story unfold without interruption. reading something that pulls me into emotions that aren’t mine, but still feel so real. i’m constantly searching for spaces, physical or emotional, where depth is allowed.
i care about the vibe and comfort a place gives off, the kind of comfort that isn’t universal, but feels right to me. spaces that aren’t for everyone, where you can sense the person behind it. like curated vintage shops, where every rack, every little detail reflects the owner’s vision. conversations in these spaces often drift away from surface-level talk into something more reflective. more honest.
through this space, i’ll be writing about the things that inspire me, the events i visit, the designers i discover, and the things i continue to learn along the way.
expect reflections on private shopping concepts, on building something from scratch instead of endlessly scrolling, on films to watch and books worth reading. insights on starting your own brand as a creative. and sometimes, a bit of humour about fashion, because perspective matters.
can’t wait to start this journey with Dream Unit. who knows where it’ll take us… hopefully somewhere inspiring, for both of us.
see you soon,
milou
